Another case of infidelity resulting in a married man’s murder has surfaced from Andhra Pradesh’s Kakinada on Sunday, where his wife and her paramour killed him in March 2026, and staged the death as a heart attack to evade suspicion, the police said. According to police, the accused exploited the victim’s pre-existing cardiac condition.

The accused, identified as Ramadevi and Prasadam Gopisai, allegedly conspired to kill the former’s husband, Pulla Durga Prasad (28), who used to drive an auto-rickshaw for a living. According to police, the incident went undetected for months after his family was led into believing that he had died of natural causes. 

Ramadevi’s affair leads to murder

The police learnt that Ramadevi became acquainted with Gopisai through Instagram and their friendship eventually evolved into a romantic relationship. The cops said the couple began viewing Durga Prasad as a hindrance to their relationship and subsequently hatched a plan to kill him. 

According to a police probe, the duo allegedly decided to exploit his medical history to conceal the crime. Notably, he had undergone stent procedures earlier and suffered from chronic heart-related ailments, making a sudden cardiac death appear plausible. 

Sleeping pills mixed into juice

The investigating police personnel said the accused mixed sleeping pills into Durga Prasad’s juice on March 13, 2026. After he became unconscious, Ramadevi and Gopisai allegedly suffocated him to death. 

According to cops, the duo informed Durga Prasad’s kin that he had suffered a heart attack. Owing to his long-standing cardiac issues, the family members accepted the explanation and performed his last rites without suspecting any foul play.

Message from unidentified sender blows the lid off the murder

The case, however, took a dramatic turn months later when a message containing details of the alleged murder was sent to Durga Prasad’s family. Alarmed by its contents, his kin approached the police and requested a probe into his death. 

The cops began investigating the circumstances surrounding the death, which later unearthed evidence pointing towards a criminal conspiracy involving Ramadevi and Gopisai. After the duo was detained and interrogated, the police came to know that Durga Prasad was murdered and his death had been passed off as a heart attack. 

Accused arrested

Post-confession, the police arrested the duo and invoked charges of murder, as well as criminal conspiracy against them. Officials in the know of the case said the probe is underway and additional evidence is being collected to establish the entire sequence of events. The cops are also examining digital communications between the accused as part of the probe.
