Twelve Indians Among 13 Killed in Qatar Factory Explosion
Twelve Indian nationals were among 13 people killed in a massive explosion at a factory in Ras Laffan Industrial City in Qatar, officials confirmed on Monday. The incident, which occurred on Sunday night, also claimed the life of another person of Pakistani origin.
The Indian Embassy in Doha, citing information provided by Qatari authorities, said that the deceased included 12 Indian citizens. It added that those injured in the blast are in stable condition and are receiving appropriate medical treatment.
In a post on X, the embassy expressed condolences to the families of the victims and assured that it is working closely with Qatari authorities to provide all possible assistance to the affected Indian nationals and their relatives.
Embassy Working to Repatriate Mortal Remains
“Our Embassy is working in close contact with the Qatari authorities to extend all possible help to the Indian nationals and their families affected by this incident, including ensuring that mortal remains of the deceased are sent to India at the earliest,” the mission said.
The embassy also stated that it is coordinating with local authorities to facilitate support for the families of those injured and deceased.
Qatari Minister Confirms Casualties
Earlier in the day, Qatar’s Energy Minister Saad bin Shreida Al-Kaabi confirmed the deaths during a press briefing held on Monday. He said that 13 people of Indian and Pakistani origins had lost their lives in the explosion.
However, officials have not yet disclosed the exact cause of the blast. Authorities are expected to conduct a detailed investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the tragedy.
